What was wrong
A 1970s kitchen with cupboards along one wall, a table jammed against the radiator, and a pantry nobody could reach past the fridge. Andrius cooks most days and had run out of places to put things.
He did not want a bigger kitchen - he wanted this one to stop losing lids.
The work
What we changed
-
Cupboards to the ceiling
The top row holds what you use twice a year. It is thirty centimetres nobody uses in most kitchens.
-
The table became an island
Same seats, but with drawers underneath and the radiator no longer deciding where anyone sits.
-
The pantry moved
Where the fridge used to block it. The fridge went where the old pantry was - a swap that cost almost nothing.
